Assessment of Overseas Trained Dermatologists
The College undertakes a formal process for assessing the equivalence of the education, training and experience of overseas trained specialists (OTSs). The process is one in which the training, clinical experience and the standard of practice of the applicant are assessed against those of a consultant dermatologist trained in Australia. The process is in accordance with Australian Medical Council (AMC) procedures.
Applications should be made by the overseas trained specialist to the Australian Medical Council (AMC). College will assess the applicant on behalf of the AMC.
Documentation Required
Applicants will be required to submit documentation to support their application.
Interview Procedure
The aim of the interview is to determine and confirm the nature and quality of the applicant’s training and experience, and to ensure the applicant understands the standards of competence and safety expected of an Australian trained dermatologist. The Interview Panel will determine whether the applicant’s specialist training and experience considered in totality is comparable to those of an Australian trained dermatologist.
International Medical Graduate Assessment Outcomes
